“I’ll show you how to enjoy the nightlife.” Ryota Nagano of Genin wa Jibun ni Aru. and Yasuya Fujibayashi star in the live-action adaptation of Yuho Okita’s hit manga, with more than 300,000 copies in circulation. A sincere young man finds himself falling for two apparently opposite people in a romantic triangle filled with uncertainty.

The manga’s irresistible premise—that a devoted fan’s favourite model and his awkward classmate are actually the same person—has captivated readers with its tense, almost-triangle relationship. Its distinctive combination of fashion school and nightlife earned first place in the Deep category of the BL Awards 2024. The sequel PUNKS TRIANGLE stitch began serialisation in 2024, and the story now makes the move to television.

Nagano plays Chiaki, a pure-hearted, earnest young man devoted to his idol, drawing on the expressive strength that has helped his dance-vocal group rise in popularity. Fujibayashi takes on the dual identity of charismatic model Ai and clumsy classmate Ayumu Enaga. His credits include Kamen Rider Gotchard, the Haikyu!! theatre company and Yukihiko Tsutsumi’s Chushingura. Mone Akitani, Masaki Himekomatsu and Akiko Hinagata join the supporting cast, while model and actor Louis Kurihara brings a distinctive presence to the manager of Chiaki’s part-time workplace.

Director Takehiro Shindo and screenwriter Hiroko Kanasugi reunite after the successful 2024 drama Cosmetic Playlover. Their sensitive approach to Chiaki, Enaga and Ai’s frustrations preserves the fashion-centred world of the manga, including its essential punk styling. Vocal group Urashimasakatasen supplies the theme song Double Face, its third theme for a boys’ love drama after Living with Him and Cosmetic Playlover. Formed in 2013, the group sold out both days of its first Nippon Budokan engagement for its fifth anniversary in 2018 and celebrated a successful tenth anniversary at Saitama Super Arena in 2023. Its song for this series becomes more compelling with every listen.

Fashion student Chiaki dreams of seeing Ai, the model who changed his life, walk the runway in clothes he has made. Winning a competition could make that dream come true, but his hopes collapse when he is paired with the scruffy, hopelessly clumsy Enaga. One night, Ai himself rescues Chiaki from a group of troublemakers—then draws close with a seductive invitation to teach him how to enjoy a night out.

The box includes all eight episodes, making-of footage, an interview with Nagano and Fujibayashi, and their visual commentary on the final episode. A three-sided outer case, a 32-page booklet, three photo cards and two photo-grey cards complete the release.
