Ranma Saotome and Akane Tendo, the youngest daughter of the Tendo dojo, are engaged by arrangement of their parents. Ranma has an unusual complication: after falling into a cursed spring while training in China, he transforms into a girl when splashed with cold water and returns to being a boy with hot water. Their reluctant engagement draws them into a whirlwind of martial arts, romantic misunderstandings and eccentric rivals.

Volume 1 of the new Ranma 1/2 anime contains episodes 1-12 across three Blu-rays, with 273 minutes of main content. Kappei Yamaguchi and Megumi Hayashibara voice Ranma's two forms, while Noriko Hidaka plays Akane. Minami Takayama voices Nabiki, Kikuko Inoue voices Kasumi, Akio Otsuka voices Soun Tendo and Cho voices Genma Saotome. Koichi Yamadera returns as Ryoga Hibiki and Rei Sakuma as Shampoo, joined by Tomokazu Sugita as Tatewaki Kuno, Ayane Sakura as Kodachi Kuno, Toshiyuki Morikawa as Dr. Tofu Ono, Mamoru Miyano as Mikado Sanzenin, Aoi Yuki as Azusa Shiratori and Tomokazu Seki as Ichiro. Kenichi Ogata narrates.

The limited-edition package features new jacket artwork by character designer Hiromi Taniguchi, a mini art board newly illustrated by manga creator Rumiko Takahashi and a special booklet. Audio commentaries accompany episodes 1, 5 and 9, with participating cast members Kappei Yamaguchi, Noriko Hidaka, Megumi Hayashibara, Koichi Yamadera and Mamoru Miyano. Video extras include clean opening and ending sequences and next-episode previews.

The main episodes have Japanese Linear PCM audio. No subtitles are included.
