READING MUSEUM Stage & Musicals

Reading Museum brings rising writers and an acclaimed voice cast together in a new kind of staged-reading project, with Daisuke Namikawa serving as its “museum director.” Its fifth production, Deadlocked Deliveries — Murder Order in the Million-Detective City, is the long-awaited sequel to the third production, Deadlocked Detectives — The Worst Locked Room in the Million-Detective City. Returning screenwriter amphibian supplies another unpredictable mystery.

In a city where every resident is a detective, four eccentric investigators—Shigemura, Noro, Sassa and Kurosu—find themselves locked inside an apartment. Their fate rested with the original theatre audience: spectators voted by smartphone, changing the route the story would take. The live production called this combination of Votable, Variable and Voice-Drama “real-time V3 drama.” With a different cast on each performance date, the four-act sudden-death mystery-comedy demanded attention from beginning to end.

This Blu-ray edition preserves the daytime and evening performances from both January 30 and February 6, 2022, together with an after-show talk for each performance. It lets you revisit both casts and the different live versions.
