Romantic Toy Box brings together approximately one hundred commercial and personal illustrations by Tomomi Tomida, whose elaborate worlds combine Japanese motifs with Gothic fantasy and historical subjects. Character designs for online games, trading card games, otome games and drama CDs appear alongside original illustrations, including Japanese-style fantasy and kimono-inspired Gothic fashion.
New artwork and making-of explanations extend this first collection beyond a portfolio of earlier pieces, offering a closer look at how Tomida develops these ornate images. The Gifu-based illustrator's wider character-design credits include Jirotachi from Touken Ranbu -ONLINE-, Boroboroton from Ichibanketsu -ONLINE- and characters for Shin Bakumatsu Shinsengumi.
