Ryosan-gata Riko TV Series

“Currently assembling myself.” Late-night drama meets plastic modelling once again in the world of Ryosan-gata Riko. This hobby-centred human drama follows Riko Komukai in another world, distinct from the original story, as young people who believed themselves different from everyone else struggle to find originality in their lives and gradually build themselves into adults.

Riko starts the company Dream Crazy with her university classmates Shinji and Asai. Hoping to develop their service, they present their ideas to Inuzuka, the head of the start-up support project Dog Run, only to receive a harsh assessment that leaves their plans in trouble. When fellow Dog Run participant Kyoko Nakano calls her “mass-produced”, Riko begins to question what the term really means.

Advised to try something new and broaden her thinking, Riko takes an unfamiliar route and discovers a model shop. Encouraged by its owner, Yassan, she begins assembling a plastic model—and takes another step towards assembling her own life.

Familiar names take on different lives in this parallel setting, while Yassan and his Yajima model shop provide the shared connection between the two worlds. Real kits appear throughout the story, including the HGUC Unicorn Gundam in Unicorn Mode and the HG YF-19, bringing the pleasures and challenges of model building into Riko’s everyday experiences.

A special booklet and extensive making-of material accompany the drama. The extras explore the characters, cast interactions, model-building sessions and production sets, then go behind the opening and ending sequences and revisit the final days of filming.
