Scarlet Nexus Animation

Will that scarlet bring liberation—or severance? Bandai Namco Entertainment’s original game becomes a television anime from Sunrise, known for Mobile Suit Gundam and Love Live! Characters with extraordinary brain powers such as psychokinesis and pyrokinesis drive an expansive story of hidden secrets, deep conspiracies and a richly developed world. The project also connected the anime and game through cipher quests: clues hidden in episodes led to game quests designed to award equipment.

In New Era 2020, most people are born with abilities that allow their thoughts and consciousness to affect the outside world. Life appears convenient and peaceful, yet grotesque creatures known as Others descend from the stratosphere and threaten humanity. To fight them, New Himuka’s government creates the Other Suppression Force, an army of people with exceptional powers that range from fire and extreme speed to invisibility.

Psychokinetic Yuito Sumeragi was rescued from an Other attack by the force as a child. He volunteers, endures demanding training and finally reaches the day of his enlistment. Meanwhile, the scouted recruit Kasane Randall has long experienced mysterious dreams. “Don’t let go of the red strings”—what do those words mean? What are the Others, and what secrets does the world conceal? Yuito and Kasane are drawn into an inescapable destiny.

Volume 4 includes cast commentaries on episodes 25 and 26, the creditless second-cour ending and two promotional videos. A box with new anime artwork, special digipak packaging and a 40-page booklet may accompany the release while physical bonus stocks last.
