Sefure no Pride: Final Love Blu-ray

This is the final love. Shadows from the past and decisions about the future close in on Shoko and Kazuki as their relationship reaches its conclusion. Following Lamentation, Final Love completes the two-part continuation of the Sefure no Pride film series. Its fourth chapter brings the characters’ emotions together in a moving finale that celebrates their humanity.

After a devastating incident, Shoko separates from Kazuki and begins a succession of one-night relationships. Emotionally unsettled, she immerses herself in work when her company entrusts her with a new project. Her colleague Sakutaro Hasegawa becomes a dependable ally. Although she knows from the ring on his left hand that he is married, she gradually finds herself drawn to him.

Meanwhile, Kazuki lives quietly at a clinic on a remote island. There he meets Mei, a writer who moves restlessly from place to place, and begins to reconsider love and how he wants to live. Shoko and Kazuki continue their separate lives without contacting each other, until an unexpected event brings them back together and drives them towards a conclusion beyond their expectations.

The series adapts Yoriko Minato’s manga, which had sold more than 5.4 million copies across print and digital editions. Published by Futabasha’s JOUR Comics, it gained a strong following, especially among adult women, through a woman’s perspective on tangled emotions and sexual desire. The first live-action films, First Love and Determination, opened theatrically in 2023 with Aika Yukihira and Sho Aoyagi, following the pair’s attraction, uncertainty and changing relationship as friends with benefits.

Yukihira gives Shoko allure, resilience and a refreshing warmth. After her first leading role in Hideo Jojo’s Be My Slave Chapter 2: Please Call Me Master in 2018, she appeared across film and television, including Ichikei no Karasu in 2021 and Reversal Orchestra in 2023. Aoyagi, a member of Gekidan EXILE known for HiGH&LOW, Alice in Borderland and Anpan, explores a new side of his work here. His performance brings out Kazuki’s innate kindness, generosity and the changes that life with Shoko has brought him.

Returning performers include Moemi Katayama and Riria Sakagami. Terunosuke Takezai, known for Kamen Rider Blade and Romantic Killer, joins them as Shoko’s colleague, combining charm with a more calculating side. Akari Takaishi, whose work includes Bakebake, and Shinya Niiro, seen in Cells at Work! and The 13 Lords of the Shogun, also return as the series gathers its ensemble for the conclusion.

Director Hideo Jojo has made more than one hundred works, ranging from sharply edged genre films to bittersweet stories of youth. His 2025 releases included Warau Mushi and A Wicked Summer. Having begun in erotic cinema, he brings that experience to a sensual setting in which the characters’ recognisable humanity remains central. After Shoko and Kazuki have confronted despair, what answer can they find together?
