Shinisokonatta Otoko Deluxe Edition Blu-ray

A man who failed to die finds a ghost waiting for him with a request to kill. Perhaps even your bad luck could take a turn for the better in this unpredictable ghost story.

This first starring film role for Katamari Mizukawa of King of Conte 2021-winning comedy duo Kuki Kaidan meets the latest work from Seiji Tanaka, whose 2019 debut feature Melancholic won acclaim and awards at film festivals in Japan and overseas. Making his commercial feature debut, Tanaka brings an original screenplay full of unpredictable developments and an unusual creative chemistry to the screen.

The film brings together distinctive characters ranging from the eccentric to the cool and composed. Its comedy also draws on original sketches and appearances by performers from Japan’s comedy scene, bringing their wordplay and comic invention into the story.

Haunted, unlucky, or perhaps lucky after all? Comedy writer Ippei Sekiya longed for a career in comedy. With his dream partly fulfilled, he finds himself exhausted by an unforgiving society and days that bring no reward. He decides to jump from a railway platform, but an accident involving a person at the neighbouring station interrupts his plan.

Having failed to die because of terrible timing, Ippei finds a male ghost standing before him with an outrageous request: “Could you kill the man who is stalking my daughter?” Threatened with being haunted until he kills the man, what choice will Ippei make?
