Showa 100 Years Japanese Citypop Non-Stop Best Mix Vol.2 CD
オムニバス/昭和100年JAPANESE CITYPOP NON-STOP BEST MIX Vol.2
Showa 100 Years Japanese Citypop Non-Stop Best Mix Vol.2 links original recordings in a brisk, continuous DJ mix. City pop grew in Japan from the late 1970s through the 1980s, combining Western musical influences with sophisticated urban melodies and lyrics. Its rediscovery overseas through the internet from the 2010s helped renew its popularity at home.
DJ Caesar draws on a lifelong familiarity with the style to select the music. Known for the Weekly Shonen Jump 50th Anniversary and Mobile Suit Gundam 40th Anniversary anime mixes, he turns here to city pop, evoking city streets, night views and poolside scenes from the era. Misaki Tanaka supplies the jacket illustration for this introduction to the genre.
