Six Lying University Students Reading Act Blu-ray

A much-discussed work that swept four major mystery rankings and was also announced for a film adaptation comes to Blu-ray as a stage production starring Hikaru Makishima and Yurika Nakamura. Six Lying University Students continues to attract attention, with an audiobook release and a triple adaptation into film, manga and a theatrical reading act. This release presents the reading act performed in June 2022.

A reading act differs from a conventional staged reading by incorporating theatrical expression through actors' movements, lighting and sound effects. It aims for a form between a staged reading and a play, the format best suited to bringing this story's world to the stage.

The rapidly growing IT company SpiraLinks is recruiting new graduates for the first time. Six job seekers reach the final selection round and are instructed to build a team over the next month and hold a discussion. Shogo Hatano gets to know the other five students, hoping that all six will receive job offers, but just before the discussion, the assignment changes: they must choose only one person to receive an offer. The six who were supposed to be friends become rivals for a single position. As their debate over the job offer unfolds, six envelopes are discovered. Each bears an individual's name, and inside is an accusation that this person is a murderer. What lies and sins do these six conceal? And what is the culprit's purpose?

Alongside the main performance, the Blu-ray contains a special three-way discussion with Hikaru Makishima, Yurika Nakamura and original author Akinari Asakura, plus an after-talk with Hikaru Makishima, Yuki Ogoe, Waku Kyoten and Akinari Asakura. The after-event footage comes from the 2 p.m. performance on Friday, June 24.

The cast features Hikaru Makishima as Shogo Hatano, Yurika Nakamura as Iori Shima, Yuki Ogoe as Kimihiko Morikubo, Kengo Yoshida as Ryo Hakamada, Marika Kono and Aya Yamane alternating as Tsubasa Yashiro, Waku Kyoten as Sota Kuga, and Norihiko Tsukuda as Tatsuaki Kogami.
