Metal Slug 4 uses a compilation-like structure familiar to experienced players, with a Metallish System that awards medals as scores rise. It also experiments with controls, moving the tank-ramming Metal Slug Attack from a simultaneous A-and-B press to the D button.
Metal Slug 5 is the first series entry to adopt heavy metal background music. Its sliding mechanic adds excitement when mastered, while the new Slug Gunner can move on wheels or walk on two legs. This collection revives the music of two games representing a turning point for Metal Slug.
