The King of Fighters 2002 returns to the series' original three-on-three battles while adding Free Cancel during MAX activation and MAX2 moves beyond MAX super specials, making for aggressive matchups.
The King of Fighters 2003 introduces the Tactical Leader System, allowing one enhanced leader on each team, and Multi Shift, letting players change members freely during combat when its conditions are met. These systems create fast, strategic battles, while new protagonist Ash begins a new story. The two-disc soundtrack brings back music from both a return to the series' roots and a new direction.
