Softly made its major-label debut with Kimi ga Ii in February 2016 and steadily expanded its activities, winning strong support from teenage girls, especially through MixChannel, and appearing at JOIN ALIVE for two consecutive years.

On reaching twenty, the duo decided to pause its activities in December 2017, needing time to face both themselves and the core of their identities as artists more positively. Teenage Song Collection brings together songs they wrote throughout their teens, including their independent period.
