SOLO Performance ENGEKI Vol.1 Blu-ray

SOLO Performance ENGEKI is a project that creates theater with the smallest possible number of people. The performances use minimal casts and crews to present solo theater as a new form of entertainment. This Blu-ray brings together the project's first production, HAPPY END, and the October 2021 production Me and Merryver's 7,322 Loves.

Me and Merryver's 7,322 Loves features separate solo performances by Rina Ikoma and Ryo Matsuda. By coincidence, both debuted in 2012 and entered their tenth professional year in 2021. Erika Yoshida, whose work spans television dramas and anime including Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?!, writes the script. Nobuhiro Mori of Shonen Shachu, who directed both performers' first starring stage productions, directs. His credits include writing and directing every Shonen Shachu production and directing Durarara!! on stage.

The male and female versions are almost the same, yet each uses a different script. Adrift in space, the protagonist searches with Merryver for love. It is a story of living toward tomorrow in the vast, pathless universe.

HAPPY END is a solo performance by Mizuki Umezu. Takeshi Miyamoto, whose television credits include Byplayers, writes the script. Mizumaru Awashima, known for the works of theater company Z-Lion, adapts and directs it, with music by Go Sakabe, whose credits include Kamen Rider Zero-One.

When humanity realizes there is no future, what kind of life will people choose? How will they face their friends, their families and their dreams? This is the story of an entirely ordinary man who simply does his utmost to live each day.

The disc contains Rina Ikoma's and Ryo Matsuda's respective performances of Me and Merryver's 7,322 Loves and Mizuki Umezu's HAPPY END.
