Summer Ghost Standard Edition Blu-ray

The eagerly awaited Blu-ray of Summer Ghost brings the first film directed by rising illustrator loundraw, known for depicting worlds filled with light.

“Have you heard of the Summer Ghost?” Tomoya, Aoi and Ryo are high-school students who met online. An urban legend tells of a young woman’s ghost who appears when fireworks are lit. Tomoya cannot take a step towards the life he wants; Aoi cannot find a place where she belongs; Ryo’s bright future has abruptly closed before him. Each has a reason they must meet the Summer Ghost. On a summer night where life and death intersect, where will their wishes lead?

loundraw made his commercial debut as an illustrator while still in his teens. His translucent, atmospheric colours and carefully constructed spaces using depth of field led to cover illustrations for works including I Want to Eat Your Pancreas and You Shine in the Moonlit Night. His expression extends from illustration into animation, novels, manga and lyrics.

For his graduation animation Until Dreams Awaken, featuring voices including Hiro Shimono and Sora Amamiya, he handled directing, writing, staging, layouts, key animation, in-between animation and backgrounds himself. The film became a viral success, with more than five million cumulative views reported in this release’s original profile. He also contributed to animated works including Detective Conan films and Josee, the Tiger and the Fish, and performed as an artist in the music-and-art collective CHRONICLE. He founded FLAT STUDIO in January 2019.
