Summer Time Rendering Animation

A science fiction suspense story that travels through a single summer begins. Summer Time Rendering comes to Blu-ray, bringing its story through to the conclusion. Yasuki Tanaka’s manga, serialised in Shonen Jump+ and published by Shueisha’s Jump Comics, accumulated 130 million page views and receives its long-awaited anime adaptation. Television broadcasts and streaming began in April 2022. The release also includes textless footage of its much-discussed theme songs.

“Ushio is dead.” On hearing the news that his childhood friend Ushio Kofune has died, Shinpei Ajiro returns to his hometown of Hitogashima in Wakayama City for the first time in two years. He reunites with family and friends, and the funeral proceeds without incident. But his close friend Sou Hishigata tells him that there are suspicious circumstances surrounding Ushio’s death and that she may have been murdered.

The next day, an entire nearby family suddenly disappears. At the same time, Shinpei hears an ominous rumour: anyone who sees a Shadow identical to themselves will die, killed by that Shadow. Then Ushio’s younger sister Mio says that she saw a Shadow three days before her sister died. On this small island in the Kitan Strait, a science fiction suspense story crossing time in summer is about to unfold.

The second volume includes textless versions of the second opening and ending theme sequences.
