Super Happy Forever Blu-ray

Super Happy Forever follows two childhood friends back to a seaside resort in Izu, where a shared past has become painfully difficult to revisit. Kohei Igarashi directs this story of loss, chance encounters and a brief happiness remembered, with Hiroki Sano, Yoshinori Miyata, Nairu Yamamoto and Hoang Nhu Quynh leading the cast.

On August 19, 2023, Sano and Miyata arrive at a hotel that is preparing to close. Its Vietnamese employees, including Anh, are approaching their final days there. Sano has recently lost his wife Nagi, whom he met and fell in love with at this same place five years earlier. Unable to let go of those memories, he sinks into increasingly self-destructive behaviour. Miyata tries to help, but his advice, coloured by a seminar he has embraced, cannot reach his grieving friend.

Speaking little, the two revisit a restaurant that has already shut its doors, take a sightseeing boat and search for a red hat lost long ago. The film brings together ordinary locations and unexpected meetings as its characters approach the end of their youth. Igarashi co-writes the screenplay with Koichi Kubodera, and Daigo Sakuragi of D.A.N. supplies the music. The supporting cast includes Satoshi Kasajima, Miu Kainuma, Tomomitsu Adachi, Yuko Kageyama and Shunsaku Yajima.

This Blu-ray includes the approximately 95-minute feature, the companion work Suigyo no Majiwari and a trailer collection. The main soundtrack is Japanese Linear PCM 5.1, accompanied by a Japanese Linear PCM stereo audio-description track and Japanese subtitles. The film is presented in 1080p high definition.
