Super Robot Red Baron Blu-ray Hero Library Volume 36

A beloved giant-robot tokusatsu hero of the 1970s arrives on Blu-ray in a remaster created from the series' first HD negative scan. Unprecedented picture quality brings the crimson super robot vividly back to life!

One of the defining live-action giant-robot hero programmes of its decade, Super Robot Red Baron combines full-fledged robot special-effects action with human spy adventures.

Story: At the World Robot Exposition, where giant robots representing the scientific achievements of countries around the world have assembled, robots are stolen one after another. The Iron Mask Party, a robot empire, plans to conquer Earth by controlling the stolen machines. Ken Kurenai, a member of the secret investigation organisation SSI, pilots Super Robot Red Baron, left to him by his brother, a leading authority on robotics, and fights the robot forces sent by the Iron Mask Party.

In the latter half of the story, Dr Deviler, leader of the Iron Mask Party, is revealed to be under the control of Giras Q, head of the Space Iron Mask Party. The conflict then becomes a battle against robots developed by the space organisation. Red Baron ventures into space for the final showdown on Mars, where the enemy headquarters are located.

The detailed, substantial mechanical imagery is a major attraction: the pilot enters an elevator through Red Baron's foot and rises to the cockpit, fingerprint and voiceprint recognition identify the operator, and the robot's internal mechanisms can be seen as missiles launch. SSI's spy-action scenes and the serious science-fiction drama add plenty to stir a young adventurer's imagination. The series helped drive the giant-robot boom of its time, and its popularity led on to Super Robot Mach Baron.
