Tadanari Okamoto Film Collection 4K Restoration Blu-ray

A selection of national-treasure-caliber works by Tadanari Okamoto, one of Japan's great masters of animation, comes to Blu-ray in beautiful 4K restorations.

Original thirty-five-millimeter negatives were restored by IMAGICA Entertainment Media Services under the supervision of cinematographer Minoru Tamura, who photographed many of Okamoto's films, together with staff and people associated with the works. The restorations recover the information recorded on the original negatives in exceptionally fine detail and rich color. Sound was digitized from each film's sound negative or cine tape, restored and mastered by internationally acclaimed sound engineer Seigen Ono, and presented in uncompressed 96 kHz/24-bit linear PCM.

The collection contains Hana to Mogura, The Flower and the Mole, from 1970, sixteen minutes, adapted from the picture book Hana to Himitsu, written by Shinichi Hoshi and illustrated by Makoto Wada; Chikotan: Boku no Oyomesan, Chikotan: My Bride, from 1971, eleven minutes; Mochimochi no Ki, The Mochi Mochi Tree, from 1972, seventeen minutes, based on the work by Ryusuke Saito; Sakura yori Ai o Nosete, From Sakura with Love, from 1976, three minutes; Okon Joruri, from 1982, twenty-six minutes, based on the work by Akira Saneto; and Chumon no Oi Ryoriten, The Restaurant of Many Orders, from 1991, nineteen minutes, based on the work by Kenji Miyazawa.
