Tapestry Ito Regular Edition Blu-ray
映画 糸 通常版
A love story of finding one another. Miyuki Nakajima's treasured song Ito becomes a film about love and the bonds that connect us. Released in 1998 as part of the singer-songwriter's thirty-fifth single, the nationally beloved song likens threads to people, singing of the miracle of meeting and the importance of human connections.
Masaki Suda and Nana Komatsu star together, joined by accomplished performers including Takumi Saitoh and Nana Eikura. Director Takahisa Zeze, known for The 8-Year Engagement and 64 and honored at the Berlin International Film Festival, creates an expansive love story inspired by the song. Its theme is meeting again, following a man and woman born in the first year of the Heisei era as their lives overlap with the era's changing history.
At thirteen, first love: the two are separated far apart. At twenty-one, reunion: the years that passed cannot be recovered. At thirty-one, the present: if only they could meet once more.
Ren Takahashi, played by Masaki Suda, and Aoi Sonoda, played by Nana Komatsu, are born in 1989 and grow up in Hokkaido. They meet at thirteen and fall in love for the first time. One day Aoi suddenly disappears. Unable to bear her stepfather's abuse, she has fled the town. When Ren learns the truth, he desperately finds her and the two run away together.
Still children with nowhere to go, they are soon taken into police protection. Aoi's mother then takes her away from Hokkaido. Ren cannot even see her off, and they are separated far from one another.
Eight years later, Ren is working at a local cheese workshop. Traveling to Tokyo for a friend's wedding, he meets Aoi again. Ren has decided to make his life in Hokkaido, while Aoi wants to travel the world and test herself. Already, they have begun walking different paths.
Ten more years pass. In 2019, the final year of Heisei, fate tries once again to bring them together.
The regular-edition Blu-ray contains the film, a collection of trailers and television spots. Specifications, bonus content and their names may change without notice.
