TAROMAN Movies

Welcome to the world of Showa year 100. Fight on, Taroman, in the future people once imagined, overflowing with dreams and hope.

The much-discussed theatrical film version of Taroman brings together Taro Okamoto's unique words and artworks in a spectacular tokusatsu adventure.

Presented as a special-effects hero programme broadcast in the 1970s, TAROMAN: Taro Okamoto-Style Tokusatsu Adventure was created using Okamoto's words and works as motifs. Its pairing of Taro Okamoto and tokusatsu, Japanese art and entertainment, became a talking point. Taroman, originally broadcast in stories, now runs riot in a full-length adventure.

The story is set in 1970, and then moves further forward to 2025. It crosses eras and unleashes still more nonsense. But this is not the actual 2025: it is 2025 as imagined around the 1970s, Showa year 100. Geometric buildings, cars moving through transparent tubes in the sky, and futuristic cities communicating with outer space: the exciting future imagined back then made Showa-era children's eyes sparkle and their hearts race. Fight on, Taroman, in that future world filled with dreams and hope.
