The Aquatope on White Sand Animation

“Did you see it?” Kukuru quietly shares a secret about Gama Gama Aquarium: “Sometimes you can see strange things here.”

Summer sunlight pours down on Okinawa. A little over an hour's bus ride from Naha lies Gama Gama Aquarium, a small, slightly run-down aquarium beside a beautiful beach in the southern part of Okinawa's main island.

Eighteen-year-old high school student Kukuru Misakino works there with unwavering dedication. She loves the aquarium more than anyone, even calling herself its director in place of her grandfather.

One day Kukuru meets Fuuka Miyazawa, a girl standing before a tank with her long hair swaying and large tears falling. Fuuka has abandoned her dream of becoming an idol and travelled from Tokyo to Okinawa on an aimless escape.

Time passes gently and slowly at Gama Gama Aquarium. Looking for a place to belong, Fuuka asks to work there. The everyday lives of two girls who were never meant to meet begin to change.

Alongside its mysteries, however, Gama Gama Aquarium faces a major problem: the threat of closure. As the deadline approaches, the two begin working to rebuild it, determined to protect an irreplaceable place and a warm refuge.

This fifth volume of the original coming-of-age anime from director Toshiya Shinohara, known for Iroduku: The World in Colors, and P.A.WORKS follows Kukuru, Fuuka and Tsukimi as their days off finally coincide. They decide to hold a gathering to get to know the staff of Aquarium Tingarla better.

The package features a digipak newly illustrated by U 35, a special clear case and a special booklet containing the second collection of interviews.
