Having begun drawing at seventeen, GUWEIZ describes his decision to pursue art, his daily habits and his experience of overcoming creative slumps.
His reflections also address feelings of inadequacy, pressure and the challenges of working as an artist in the social-media era. Making-of explanations explore composition, directing the viewer's gaze, light and shadow, color and scene construction, including ways to make a character stand out within a dark-toned image.
This Japanese edition includes an interview in which illustrator Mai Yoneyama discusses the appeal of GUWEIZ's work. Published by Hobby Japan, it contains 151 pages.
