The Colors Within Standard Edition Blu-ray brings Naoko Yamada's original animated film to a single-disc edition, weaving music and adolescent uncertainty around a girl who perceives people as colours. For high-school student Totsuko, those colours can be joyful, lively or peaceful, and some draw her attention more strongly than others.

At a second-hand bookshop, she encounters Kimi, a girl who once attended the same school and radiates a beautiful colour, and Rui, a boy who loves music. Each carries a worry they cannot share. Kimi has left school without finding the courage to tell her family. Rui secretly pursues music despite his mother's expectations for his future. Totsuko, who can see everyone else's colours, cannot see her own.

The three form a band and begin rehearsing in an old church on a remote island. As they communicate through music, friendship and feelings resembling a tentative first love begin to grow between them. Their school festival brings the prospect of a first live performance, and the chance to reveal their shared colours and sound before an audience.

Sayu Suzukawa, Akari Takaishi and Taisei Kido voice the central trio, joined by Yasuko, Aoi Yuki, Minako Kotobuki, Keiko Toda and Yui Aragaki. The standard edition contains the approximately 101-minute feature and about four minutes of teasers and trailers on one region-free Blu-ray. Japanese DTS-HD Master Audio is offered in 5.1 surround and 2.0 stereo, with a separate Japanese 2.0 audio-description track. English subtitles and Japanese accessibility subtitles are included.
