The Yagyu Clan Conspiracy 4K Remastered Blu-ray

The sudden death of second shogun Tokugawa Hidetada leaves a mystery and a dangerous succession dispute. Supporters of his eldest son Iemitsu confront those backing his younger son Tadanaga, drawing the inner palace, feudal lords, imperial court, retainers and ordinary people into a ruthless struggle for power.

Yagyu Tajima-no-kami supports Iemitsu and schemes to secure both political authority and his family's survival. The conflict leads to a deadly contest with Tadanaga's champion Ogasawara Genshinsai and ultimately to a bitter confrontation with his own son, Jubei Mitsuyoshi. Love, loyalty and ambition cross boundaries of rank and gender in Kinji Fukasaku's first period film.

Kinnosuke Yorozuya leads a cast including Shinichi Chiba, Hiroki Matsukata, Teruhiko Saigo, Reiko Ohara, Tetsuro Tamba, Shinsuke Ashida, Isuzu Yamada and Toshiro Mifune. Released in January 1978, the film draws on the early Tokugawa succession conflict to build a large-scale drama of family and political betrayal.

This Blu-ray presents the 130-minute film from a 4K remaster in 1080p, with Japanese Linear PCM mono audio and no subtitles. A teaser and theatrical trailer are included.
