TOKYO Taxi Blu-ray

Tokyo taxi driver Koji Usami works relentlessly, yet the bills keep coming: his daughter's school entrance fees, his car inspection and the renewal of his lease. His next passenger is 85-year-old Sumire Takano, who is leaving Shibamata for a care home in Hayama, Kanagawa. At first the two keep their distance, but as they travel together Sumire asks him to take a few detours through places that have shaped her life. Her memories reveal a difficult past, and a single day's journey becomes a turning point for both passenger and driver.

Yoji Yamada directs Chieko Baisho and Takuya Kimura in this Japanese adaptation of the French film Driving Madeleine. Yamada co-wrote the screenplay with Yuzo Asahara, with music by Taisei Iwasaki and cinematography by Masashi Chikamori. The supporting cast includes Yu Aoi, Takaya Sakoda, Yuka, Runa Nakajima, Misuzu Kanno, Lee Junyoung, Makita Sports, Masayasu Kitayama, Yurai Kimura, Nenji Kobayashi and Takashi Sasano.

This single-disc Blu-ray contains the 103-minute film together with its teaser and theatrical trailer. Japanese surround and stereo audio are accompanied by a Japanese accessibility audio guide and Japanese accessibility subtitles.
