Toritsukare Otoko Standard Edition Blu-ray

Toritsukare Otoko adapts Shinji Ishii's novel into an animated musical love story about wholehearted enthusiasm, unexpected talents and the wish to make another person smile. This standard edition contains the 97-minute feature, a staff audio commentary and trailers.

Giuseppe becomes so absorbed in each new interest that everything else disappears from view. Triple jumping, detective work and singing have all taken their turn, and the townspeople never know what will seize his imagination next. After befriending Cielo, a rat with nowhere to go, he even learns to speak the rats' language. While collecting insects in a park, he sees Pechika selling balloons and falls in love.

Giuseppe finds the courage to speak to her, only to discover a sadness behind her smile. With Cielo beside him, he secretly puts the many skills gathered from his past obsessions to work, trying to ease her worries and give her a reason to be happy.

Masaya Sano of Ae! group voices Giuseppe, Moka Kamishiraishi plays Pechika and Hayato Kakizawa voices Cielo. Takahiro Yamamoto and Shinji Kawada play the Twist and Salsa bosses, with Nana Mizuki as Pechika's mother and Tomoyuki Morikawa as Tatan. Wataru Takahashi directs Naoyuki Miura's screenplay, with character design by Shinji Arakawa and animation by Shin-Ei Animation. Awesome City Club's atagi creates the musical numbers, the group performs the theme Fanfare, and Yuya Haryu and MICHIRU provide the score.

The commentary brings together character designer and animation director Shinji Arakawa, art director Kentaro Akiyama and production desk Ami Sato. The disc offers Japanese Dolby TrueHD 5.1 feature audio, Japanese Dolby TrueHD stereo audio description and commentary, and Japanese accessibility subtitles.
