TRD expands its mature electronic-dance direction on What's Going On?, drawing on the late-eighties and nineties sounds that Takayuki Kondo and Daisuke Ono have long loved. AOR and neo-soul bring an adult-contemporary character to the full album.
The title track, contributed by former SOUL'd OUT member Shinnosuke, is an uptempo disco number filled with brass and strings that captures the duo's essence. Composer-producers Kohei Tsunami and JUVENILE, whose work spans J-pop and anime songs, also contribute.
Rearranged versions of anime tie-ins Strangers and COZY CRAZY PARTY! recall the atmosphere of TRD's acoustic performances. Solo songs for both members sit among the ten recordings on this standard CD.
