Tsubuan gathers Kenji Tsuruta illustrations drawn largely from 2004 onward, bringing together work that had remained outside earlier collections. The first of two companion collections, it deliberately mixes its selection rather than presenting a conventional chronological survey.
Book covers for Emanon, The Sky Crawlers, Brave Story and Shirogarasu appear alongside interior illustrations, some presented in color for the first time. CD artwork for the electro-rock band THE JETZEJOHNSON, film-related designs and original images inspired by Shin Godzilla, Evangelion and special-effects productions show the range of Tsuruta's detailed, science-fiction-inflected drawing.
Rare theater-programme images and posters created for local governments extend the selection. Published by Fukkan.com, this Japanese-language full-color hardcover contains 120 pages.
