Turkey! Animation

Would you believe our story? Strange, dear, bittersweet and precious, it cannot be described as simply fun. In bowling, a “turkey” means scoring three strikes in a row. Mai, a second-year student and captain of the Ikkokukan High School bowling club, is a gifted player who cannot win matches. Whenever she scores a turkey, she somehow follows it with the almost impossible snake-eyes split.

Rina, the club’s only first-year member, challenges her: “You’re doing it on purpose, aren’t you? You’re running away from winning. I want to win. If you don’t intend to, I’m leaving the club.” This is the late-summer story of Mai, Rina, Sayuri, Nozomi and Nanase—the five bowling-club members who lose and fight, lose and fight again, until they finally win.

This second part includes a jacket newly illustrated by character designer Airi Takegawa, a special 32-page booklet and an 80-page selection of storyboards and chief animation-director drawings. Cast-and-staff audio commentaries accompany episodes 11 and 12. Bonus videos include the second promotional video, creditless opening and ending sequences, and special promotional videos for Strike freedom! and Natsu no Sumika.
