Ultraseven returns with greater vividness than ever. First broadcast in 1967 after Ultra Q and Ultraman, it was the third entry in Tsuburaya Productions’ Fantasy Special Effects Series. Its inventive, thoughtful stories, accomplished effects, precise miniatures and distinctive monsters made a lasting impression. Fifty-five years before Shin Ultraman, this solitary hero stood between Earth and the many aliens he fought, loving the planet and its people. His appeal continues across generations.

Earth is being targeted by terrifying invaders from space. Fixed-Star Observer No. 340 from Nebula M78 is moved by the courage of a human he happens to meet. Taking that man’s appearance, he decides to remain on Earth as the young Dan Moroboshi. In times of danger, he returns to his true form and fights alongside the elite Ultra Guard. As their seventh companion, he receives the name Ultraseven.

This collection presents two distinct approaches to restoration. The 4K/HDR remaster draws on the original 16 mm negatives to preserve the film’s information and reveal more detail in highlights, colors and deep blacks. The HD Remaster 2.0 offers gradation and contrast suited to conventional viewing and the texture of 16 mm film. The two presentations support a wider range of playback environments.

The programme covers episodes 1–49, with episode 12 omitted. A script-playback function and a thirty-two-page explanatory book are included, together with surround audio on twelve selected episodes.
