When Will Ayumu Make His Move? Animation

Shogi beginner Ayumu Tanaka joins the club after falling in love at first sight with Urushi Yaotome. He is determined to confess to his senior once he beats her—but his ability is nowhere near hers. Meanwhile, Ayumu’s bold, direct approach leaves Urushi secretly flustered.

With only two members in the shogi club, their tactical exchanges continue both on and off the board. From Soichiro Yamamoto, creator of Teasing Master Takagi-san, comes a romantic comedy full of tantalising moves beyond the game: these feelings advance one move at a time.

Part 1 collects episodes 1–6 and adds the pre-broadcast special livestream featuring Kanna Nakamura, Hina Yomiya and Haruka Mikawa. A booklet accompanies the release. Its three-sided case features new artwork by Soichiro Yamamoto, with a newly illustrated digipak by character designer Kazuya Hirata.
