Worlds Apart Ikoku Nikki Blu-ray

Tomoko Yamashita's acclaimed comic, which exceeded 1.8 million copies in circulation, becomes a film about saving the heart. One day, fifteen-year-old Asa loses both parents in a traffic accident before her eyes. The shock leaves her unable even to cry. At the funeral, relatives' unfeeling words wound her. Then Makio looks directly at her and says: I do not know whether I can love you, but I will never trample on you.

Makio had a poor relationship with Asa's mother Minori. Though they were sisters, they had entirely lost contact. When nobody else will take Asa in, Makio decides to live with her. Their shared life begins even though they are virtually strangers.

Yui Aragaki plays Makio and Ikoi Hayase plays Asa. The cast includes Kaho, Rina Komiyama, Yuko Nakamura, Himena Irei, Erika Takizawa, Shota Sometani, Ginpuncho and Koji Seto. Natsuki Seta directs, writes and edits the adaptation of Yamashita's FEEL COMICS manga, with music by Masakatsu Takagi and the featured song Asanouta written and composed by Eriko Hashimoto.

Blu-ray extras include making-of footage and interviews, the completed-film preview, pre-release event, release commemorative stage greeting and hit-celebration greeting, special Asanouta footage and Paodan making-of. Five postcards are enclosed in the two-disc Blu-ray edition.

The 139-minute main film has Japanese DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1-channel and Linear PCM 2.0-channel tracks, plus a Japanese Linear PCM 2.0-channel audio-description track. Japanese subtitles accompany the main program. The audio-description language does not create an additional main-language filter.
