WOWOW Original Drama Hiru Blu-ray Box

People who settle in other people's homes.

This socially conscious revenge thriller explores the fates of people living parasitically off others and the darkness of an unequal society. The popular manga is adapted as a television series, with Eiji Akaso starring in season one and Kentaro Sakaguchi in season two.

Twenty-one-year-old Yuki Shinomiya, played by Eiji Akaso, has no friends and spends his lonely days working one part-time job after another. One day, he returns from his usual night shift to find a stranger, played by Shuntaro Yanagi, sitting in his room with a stab wound in his abdomen.

When the man wakes in hospital, he tells the detective that he is Yuki Shinomiya, points to Yuki, and claims that Yuki stabbed him. Yuki flees on impulse and instantly becomes a fugitive. A mysterious woman named Zoka, played by Ai Yoshikawa, then appears and asks him to help her take revenge on the person who killed her father. He joins her.

Zoka is a hiru, a leech who lives by moving between homes whose residents are away. The pair eventually meet Kara, played by Kentaro Sakaguchi, a legendary leech known as Kara the Leech Hunter. He too lives like an empty shell, driven only by revenge.

The four-disc box contains all twelve episodes across both seasons, with 308 minutes of main-program footage and 63 minutes of extras. These include the WOWOW Original Drama Hiru making-of documentary, special cast interviews, the production-completion press event and a collection of promotional spots.
