Yoko Minamino The Best Ten Collection Blu-ray
南野陽子 ザ・ベストテン Collection
Yoko Minamino, one of the leading idols of the mid-to-late 1980s, returns in a complete collection of her appearances on TBS’s celebrated music programme The Best Ten.
The archive begins with her first appearance on February 6, 1986, and recalls the Sukeban Deka film theme, her first chart-topping single and her best-known songs. It also preserves the much-discussed occasion when she forgot the lyrics to Aki kara mo, Soba ni Ite, together with appearances in four reunion specials broadcast after the programme ended in 1989.
An accompanying interview recalls her experiences appearing on the show, illustrated with monochrome photographs from those broadcasts. Her different glamorous costumes, lavish sets and cheerful conversations with host Tetsuko Kuroyanagi evoke the dazzling world of 1980s Japanese popular music.
Remote performances from drama and film locations and airports, along with broadcasts from Hawaii, the Bahamas and Cambodia, offer another glimpse of that extravagant era. Digital restoration and audio mastering bring these performances back in a polished presentation.
