Yukihiro Takahashi: Poisson D'Avril Soundtrack +2 returns in a remastered hybrid SACD edition as the third installment of the Yukihiro x Yukihiro EARLY 80s reissue series, revisiting his early-eighties solo work.
Originally issued in 1985 ahead of the film's 1986 release, the soundtrack accompanies Nobuhiko Obayashi's Poisson D'Avril, Takahashi's first starring film role alongside Kanoko Kyo, Tetsuro Tanba and Miyoko Akaza. Takahashi produced and composed every piece, joined by Koji Ueno on string arrangements and piano, Ryomei Shirai on guitar and Pierre Barouh on vocals.
Only tracks one and eight of the original program feature vocals; the remaining pieces are instrumental film music. Its distinctive atmosphere and tributes to classic European and American cinema make it as compelling as Takahashi's standalone albums, and an essential part of his musical story.
This reissue is remastered by Yoshinori Sunahara and adds two tracks to the original thirteen-track program.
