Zazen Boys and Number Girl The Matsuri Session Blu-ray

Zazen Boys' first live video release also marks Number Girl's first packaged performance since their reunion. It contains the complete joint concert The Matsuri Session, performed without an in-person audience at Hibiya Open-Air Concert Hall on May 4, 2021, running approximately 140 minutes. Bonus footage includes candid scenes and interviews, accompanied by a deluxe photo book.

The Matsuri Session had previously taken place twice at Hibiya Open-Air Concert Hall as an event featuring bands and artists connected with Shutoku Mukai and Matsuri Studio. Its third edition at the same venue was originally planned for May 4, 2020: a joint Zazen Boys and Number Girl show that could only happen at that particular moment, bringing together two bands that would otherwise never have met this way. The spread of COVID-19 forced the concert's cancellation.

The event was announced again for May 4, 2021, exactly one year later. However, the third state of emergency since the pandemic began prevented a show with an audience, and the decision was made at short notice to stage it as a streamed concert without spectators.

Blessed with clear early-summer weather, the two bands played the same stage before empty seats. Apart from Shutoku Mukai serving as frontman for both, their identities are entirely different. Their unique tension and tremendous impact created an extraordinary space. Space Shower TV streamed the entire performance live, then broadcast a ninety-minute edited special with candid footage.

This release presents the complete version, combining the archived director's cut, the candid footage from the special and an interview with Mukai. It preserves a joint Matsuri Session that may never happen again.

Number Girl's set contains Nichijo ni Ikiru Shojo, Teppuu Surudoku Natte, Touch, ZEGEN vs UNDERCOVER, Tomei Shojo, YOUNG GIRL SEVENTEEN SEXUALLY KNOWING, Mizuiro Kakumei, Haisuikan, TATTOO Ari, OMOIDE IN MY HEAD and I don't know. Haisuikan appears on a video release for the first time.

Zazen Boys perform Jimon Jito, Honnoji, HIMITSU GIRL'S TOP SECRET, COLD BEAT, Weekend, Potato Salad, Heartbreak, Suginami no Shonen, Haretsuon no Asa and Asobi. Suginami no Shonen appears on video for the first time. The encores are Wasurerarenai no and Kimochi with Leo Imai.
