Adieu Galaxy Express 999 Andromeda Terminus 4K Remaster UHD + Blu-ray

A landmark of Japanese animation, the theatrical Galaxy Express 999 returns for a new viewing experience. A five-kilopixel film scan and 4K HDR remaster bring fresh clarity and three-dimensional sound to this classic.

After returning to Earth and continuing his battle against the machine people, Tetsuro receives a message from Maetel and boards the 999 again. On the planet La Metal, he meets a young man named Meowdar and hears a rumor that Maetel has succeeded Prometheum.

Tetsuro soon reunites with Maetel, but for some reason she urges him to leave the 999 as quickly as possible. He refuses, and the two continue their journey. Eventually, they and the 999 reach the terminal station on the planet Great Andromeda. What awaits them there?

The standard two-disc release presents the film on Ultra HD Blu-ray in the 16:9 theatrical format and on Blu-ray in 4:3 standard format. Although the original animation was drawn in 4:3, it was created for theatrical projection with the top and bottom masked to a widescreen image. Consequently, some scenes in the open 4:3 image have unfinished artwork at the edges or missing on-screen lettering.

The Blu-ray extras include two teaser versions running one minute eight seconds and one minute twenty-nine seconds, the theatrical trailer, and fifteen-second and thirty-second television spots. The film runs 130 minutes. The UHD has Dolby TrueHD with Dolby Atmos, while the Blu-ray offers Linear PCM 5.1-channel, two-channel and original mono audio in Japanese.
