Bungo and Alchemist: Kishu-tachi no Duet Stage Play Blu-ray follows Naoya Shiga as a worsening threat to literature forces him to reconsider an old friendship and his ties to the Shirakaba school. The seventh stage adaptation of the literary reincarnation game brings its struggle against the Invaders to life through Yoshiki Tani's portrayal of Shiga and an ensemble of returning and newly introduced writers.

Reborn to protect literary works from forces that would erase them from human memory, the writers have fought with the Shirakaba group at their heart. Yet their long campaign has begun to tarnish the glory of past victories. Unable to discover the root of the threat, they watch the corruption spread until small fractures become a serious crisis.

Shiga remembers Takiji Kobayashi, a former friend who once confronted an overwhelming enemy through literature. Fearing the severity of the battles ahead, he plans to bring Kobayashi back, even as the number of corrupted books continues to grow. Refusing to surrender to the approaching danger, Shiga searches for a way forward while Saneatsu Mushanokoji quietly watches over him from a distance.

Written by Yusei Naruse and directed by Kotaro Yoshitani, the production uses Hideki Sakamoto's music from the original game, with Jiro Ishii supervising its fictional world. Taishi Sugie plays Mushanokoji alongside Mahiro Sugisaki as Takeo Arishima, Neo Sawabe as Ton Satomi, Keito Sakurai as Takuboku Ishikawa, Yuho Matsui as Kotaro Takamura, Masatoshi Shin as Kazuo Hirotsu and Kazuaki Yasue as Kobayashi.

The main Blu-ray contains the 147-minute performance. A separate disc offers 242 minutes of supplementary material, including making-of footage, cast and ensemble discussions, and a full-stage view of the opening. Six recorded after-show conversations cover the Shirakaba group, newly introduced writers, a reunion for the second stage production, a Shiga-and-Kobayashi discussion, and two Kyoto sessions. Three rehearsal-room digests provide further perspectives on the cast at work. These are recorded disc features, not admission to a live event.

A booklet accompanies the two-disc set. This Japanese release presents the performance in 16:9 high-definition video with Japanese Linear PCM 2.0 stereo audio. The Blu-rays are region free and do not include subtitles.
