The latest installment in the Bungo Stray Dogs stage series brings to the stage the first meeting of Osamu Dazai and Chuuya Nakahara, the Double Black pair renowned in the underworld. An accomplished creative team and popular cast carefully weave a story of their little-known past.

Norihito Nakayashiki, who directed the previous Bungo Stray Dogs stage productions, writes and directs. Keisuke Ueda returns as Chuuya Nakahara, a central figure in this episode, and Rui Tabuchi continues as Osamu Dazai. Hirotaka Kato as Ryuro Hirotsu and Sera Yumetsuki as Koyo Ozaki reprise Port Mafia members they portrayed in The Dark Era and Three Companies Conflict. Masakatsu Nemoto, active in films, television dramas and music as well as theatre, plays Ogai Mori. Ryujiro Izaki, whose appearances include the MANKAI MOVIE A 3! series, plays Shirase. Kei Hosogai, who attracted attention in Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger, plays Rando. Eight ensemble actors bring the cast to fifteen performers in total.

In present-day Yokohama, the Armed Detective Agency and the Port Mafia, both home to people with extraordinary abilities, struggle against one another. Seven years earlier, Port Mafia boss Ogai Mori hears a troubling rumor: the previous boss, supposedly laid to rest, has appeared in a slum near the harbor. Fifteen-year-old Osamu Dazai is ordered to investigate on his first assignment.

In the town he visits, Dazai meets Chuuya Nakahara, leader of the Sheep, a group opposing the Port Mafia. This boy, also fifteen, is pursuing something called Arahabaki. A divine beast and a resentful dead soul revived from hell: what untold truth lies concealed within those flames of rage? These young, unpolished talents will later become a pair whose names resound through the underworld. Why did an innocent sheep stain itself with darkness? This is the story of Double Black's beginning.

The two-disc Blu-ray contains the ninety-minute stage performance and a booklet. Extras include backstage footage, a full-stage view of the production, and the Bungo Stray Dogs Dazai, Chuuya, Age Fifteen pre-opening special originally streamed on September 16, 2021.

Keisuke Ueda plays Chuuya Nakahara, Rui Tabuchi plays Osamu Dazai, Hirotaka Kato plays Ryuro Hirotsu, Sera Yumetsuki plays Koyo Ozaki, Masakatsu Nemoto plays Ogai Mori, Ryujiro Izaki plays Shirase and Kei Hosogai plays Rando. The ensemble comprises Tatsuki Oishi, Asahi Otsu, Itsuki Okamura, Keigo Yamanaka, Mao Arimitsu, Kaho Kubota, Momo Mimori and Saaya Mochizuki.
