Century 21 Slough Inside the Thunderbirds Studio Blu-ray
映画 ようこそ!“サンダーバード”スタジオへ
Released to celebrate the Thunderbirds theatrical films’ first appearance on Blu-ray, this rare documentary takes you behind the scenes of Century 21 Productions, the company responsible for Thunderbirds and many other celebrated science-fiction productions.
Former staff and associates return to the studio before its demolition. Dee Anderson, daughter of Sylvia Anderson, joins director David Lane, special-effects director Brian Johnson and puppet operator Mary Turner as they recall how the productions were made. The documentary compares completed scenes with making-of footage, recreates filming arrangements and uses surviving props to explain how the puppets worked. It offers a revealing record for Thunderbirds enthusiasts, film lovers and special-effects fans alike.
Century 21 created numerous television series and theatrical films from its studios on Stirling Road, within the Slough Trading Estate in Berkshire, west of London. This documentary was made in 2018, when demolition of the studio buildings had been decided.
Bonus material includes an interview with special-effects and model designer Mike Trim, plus viewing guides to the two Thunderbirds theatrical films.
