Daisuke Takahashi The Real Athlete Phoenix Blu-ray

A distinguished documentary and performance collection follows Daisuke Takahashi's two years after returning to competitive men's singles figure skating, and the season in which he took on ice dance.

Two years have passed since his remarkable return to competition in the summer of 2018. The legendary skater once again helped lead men's singles skating. This release contains exclusive documentary footage and competition performances tracing those two years, alongside his 2020 challenge in ice dance.

The bonus material includes a special collection of memorable performances from his singles career, selected by Takahashi himself, and newly filmed interview footage. Alongside popular competition footage previously included in The Real Athlete, this release also includes newly selected performances. An original thirty-six-page photo book is enclosed. The Blu-ray and DVD were released on Takahashi's thirty-fifth birthday.

The two-Blu-ray set contains 209 minutes of main programming and forty minutes of bonuses. These include Takahashi's selected performances, new interviews, an exhibition collection from the Japanese National Championships and visual commentary. The singles selection includes his own audio commentary, which can be turned on or off. Some music has been newly recorded or re-edited for rights reasons. Some sections contain noise originating in the original recorded footage.
