And if this is your first time watching Gintama, that is absolutely fine too! The film is designed to put you at ease by helping you understand the entire story so far.

What I wanted to protect is right here, in my soul. The countdown to Earth's destruction begins! Everyone joins the fight to take back our country, the country of the samurai!

As the countdown to Earth's destruction draws near, former comrades Gintoki, Takasugi and Katsura race ahead, each carrying his own feelings in his heart. Standing in their path is someone bound to them by an unbearably tragic connection: Utsuro, a personality distinct from Yoshida Shoyo, the teacher who guided Gintoki and his companions. Their final and greatest enemy, Utsuro, plans to take the entire Earth down with him in order to end his own life.

To stop Utsuro's ambition and support Gintoki and his friends, who keep fighting with their teacher Shoyo's cherished wish in their hearts, Shinpachi, Kagura, the Shinsengumi, the people of Kabukicho and even their former rivals join the battle! Utsuro's power continues to swell. Takasugi confronts him at the risk of his own life. What does the battered Gintoki see at the very end? Can Gintoki finally bring everything to a close?

Their final and greatest enemy, Utsuro. What is his true identity? Utsuro is a demonic being born from the energy of Altana, the life force of a planet. This immortal monster has repeatedly been reborn over countless years. One personality that briefly appeared within him was Yoshida Shoyo, who founded the Shoka Sonjuku school and taught the young Gintoki and his companions...
