Gokusen Third Series Blu-ray Box reunites Yukie Nakama's unconventional teacher Yankumi with the students of Class 3-D. Behind her glasses, pigtails and red tracksuit is Kumiko Yamaguchi, a woman determined to protect her pupils while keeping her yakuza family background secret. Her fierce sense of fairness turns school conflicts into lessons about friendship, family, trust and the difference between fighting and violence.
Adapted from Kozueko Morimoto's manga, this collection contains all 11 episodes of the 2008 third series and the 2009 graduation special, Yankumi's Last Graduation Ceremony. The cast includes Yuya Takaki, Haruma Miura, Hideo Ishiguro, Junta Nakama, Akito Kiriyama and Shohei Miura; Yuta Tamamori appears in the graduation special.
Extensive supplements revisit the production through making footage, interviews, cast discussions, classroom quizzes and location reports. All 12 Gokusen spin-off episodes are included, along with the full textless ending, promotional spots, filming wrap-ups and television features recorded around the original broadcasts. A graduation-album-style photo booklet accompanies the discs.
The five-disc, region-free set contains approximately 640 minutes of the main programme and 325 minutes of extras. It presents Japanese Linear PCM 2.0 stereo audio, Japanese subtitles on the main programme, and 1080i video; some supplementary footage retains its original 4:3 presentation.
