Higurashi: When They Cry Anime

An entirely new work takes you to a Hinamizawa no one has seen before. A new project begins for Higurashi When They Cry, the legendary series that once took the world by storm.

Far from the city, the village of Hinamizawa lies surrounded by nature that remains vividly intact. Once destined to sink beneath a dam, the village still looks much as it did in the past when it welcomes transfer student Keiichi Maebara. To Keiichi, who has lived in the city, the lively, peaceful days he spends with his friends in Hinamizawa seem like happiness that will last forever. Until the day of Watanagashi, the village festival held once a year.

June, 1983. When the cicadas cry, everyday life suddenly comes to an end, and an unstoppable chain of tragedies begins.

Volume 5 contains the seven parts of the Village-Destroying Chapter, episodes 18-24. Creditless versions of the second opening and ending are included. The original first pressing included an illustrated outer case, a new short novel by Ryukishi 07, a storyboard, twelve illustrated hanafuda cards from the fourth set and a booklet; these first-press items depend on the copy supplied.

The voice cast features Soichiro Hoshi as Keiichi Maebara, Mai Nakahara as Rena Ryugu, Satsuki Yukino as Mion and Shion Sonozaki, Mika Kanai as Satoko Hojo, Yukari Tamura as Rika Furude, Chafurin as Kuraudo Oishi, Toru Okawa as Jiro Tomitake, Miki Ito as Miyo Takano, Toshihiko Seki as Kyosuke Irie and Yui Horie as Hanyu.
