Ikebukuro West Gate Park Stage & Musicals

Ikebukuro West Gate Park comes to the stage with a powerful combination of song, dance and action. The acclaimed youth mystery, originally a novel series that surpassed 4.3 million copies, had already inspired a television drama in 2000 and a television anime in 2020.

Set in Tokyo’s Ikebukuro district, the story follows troubleshooter Makoto as he solves difficult cases alongside Takashi, the “King” of the street gang G-Boys, and others. This new stage adaptation brings a fresh energy to their world.

Story: Near the park by Ikebukuro’s west exit—the place known as Ikebukuro West Gate Park—lives Makoto Majima, the son of a fruit-shop owner. He has earned the name “Ikebukuro’s troubleshooter” by resolving cases the police cannot touch, from yakuza-related crimes to gang turf wars.

The park is ruled by Makoto’s close friend from high school, Takashi Ando. Revered as the “King,” Takashi heads the G-Boys, the most powerful colour gang on the west side of Ikebukuro.

All kinds of people gather in the district. Makoto belongs to no organisation and treats everyone on equal terms, so dangerous and exciting requests constantly arrive at his door. Together with Takashi and the others, he tries to resolve one troublesome incident after another.

Video extras include a discussion with the production team and performers, the curtain call, backstage footage and exclusive interviews after the final performance. A booklet accompanies the release.
