A new work joins Toei's Movie × Stage media-mix series, bringing cinema and theatre together: Jingi Naki Bakumatsu. Yakuza from the Reiwa era travel back to the final years of the Edo period in a fresh historical entertainment experience!

The Murata gang versus the Imperial Banner Society: what code of honour awaits at the end of their desperate fight to the death?

“You and I will take the top!” Despite that vow, Ippei Otomo and Kyoji Murata parted ways after travelling back to the final years of the Edo period. Returning alone to the Reiwa era, Ippei finds that the balance of power in Kyoto has changed completely. An invasion by the rival Imperial Banner Society has left the Murata gang on the brink of destruction. Society executive Sotaro Wakamatsu and his associates seize one piece of Murata territory after another. Ippei's younger sister Saya has also caught the eye of the society's chairman, Gozo Kitazono, and is about to be forced to become his mistress.

Even Ozaki, a junior member of the Murata gang, and the few other surviving members have resigned themselves to the gang's end. Ippei alone rallies to drive out the Imperial Banner Society and protect his gang. Then Rangetsu Doji appears again. “I'll make your wish come true.” The person the mysterious child summons is Ryoma Sakamoto. This time, Ryoma has come to the Reiwa era! Having had his life saved by Kyoji, Ryoma seeks to repay that kindness by taking Kyoji's place and helping Ippei bring down the Imperial Banner Society.

Toshizo Hijikata, Soji Okita and Sanosuke Harada of the Shinsengumi also travel to the Reiwa era, along with Shintaro Nakaoka and Kogoro Katsura. Divided between the Murata gang and the Imperial Banner Society, the patriots of the late Edo period enter the yakuza conflict. Among them is Date, who was supposed to have died in the final years of the Edo period. Battles and ambitions resembling the upheaval of that age now unfold in Reiwa-era Kyoto.

Who will ultimately reach the top? What awaits at the end of this clash between the Murata gang and the Imperial Banner Society, fought by yakuza and samurai?
