Deaimon FlyingDog Anime Music

Maaya Sakamoto’s thirty-second single is both a double A-side and a release with three tie-ins, pairing a beautiful ballad composed and arranged by Quruli’s Shigeru Kishida with a song Sakamoto wrote herself.

Sumire is the opening theme for Deaimon, an anime set in a Kyoto confectionery shop. It follows the connection between a young man who abandoned his musical ambitions and a girl searching for her father. Shigeru Kishida, from the Kyoto band Quruli, joins Sakamoto for the first time, writing and arranging the music while she supplies the lyrics and vocals. Together they create a beautiful, bittersweet song about the meetings and partings between people.

Kotoba ni Dekinai, the ending theme for the third season of Ascendance of a Bookworm, is Sakamoto’s first self-written anime tie-in in four years, since Hello, Hello, the ending theme of Amanchu! Advance.

Senri no Michi -studio live-, also written by Sakamoto, commemorates the thousandth broadcast of Vitamin M, the bayfm radio programme she hosts.
