Malevolent Spirits: Mononogatari Anime

Serialized in Ultra Jump! A boy, a girl and tsukumogami, beneath one roof: a story of bonds and love.

Objects that have grown old eventually develop hearts and become tsukumogami. The Saenome receive power from the boundary deity, converse with these spirits and return them to the eternal world. Hyoma Kunato, future head of one of the three great Saenome families, lost people dear to him to tsukumogami and hates them. In the thousand-year capital Kyoto, Botan Nagatsuki, head of her family, lives with six tsukumogami whom she loves as family.

Trapped in the past, Hyoma continues sealing spirits by force. His grandfather Zohei tells him to listen to their voices and guide them. To reconsider what tsukumogami truly are, his grandfather's condition is that he stay with the Nagatsuki household and live alongside its family. Hyoma and Botan, whose feelings about the spirits are opposite, meet and begin living under one roof. Humans and tsukumogami weave their ties together in this tale.

Episodes 7–12 are included. The Japanese cast features Takeo Otsuka as Hyoma Kunato, Yuki Takada as Botan Nagatsuki, Miyuki Sawashiro as Haori, Chikahiro Kobayashi as Nagi, Reina Ueda as Yu, Yoshiki Nakajima as Suzuri and Aimi Tanaka as Kagami; the source deliberately leaves Kushige's performer undisclosed.

A booklet and six original-art cards are enclosed. The three-sided case is illustrated by original creator Onigunsou, and the inner jacket by character designer Shiori Fujisawa. Extras include promotional videos, episode 9 commentary with Takeo Otsuka, Reina Ueda and Saori Onishi, and episode 12 commentary with Otsuka and Yuki Takada.

The region-free Blu-ray runs approximately 141 minutes with Japanese Linear PCM stereo audio and no subtitles.
