Resist 99% despair

The missing woman was found inside a game consumed by bugs.

Conquer the corrupted game world from two perspectives: the game and reality. Bugs with a will of their own, NPCs with human hearts, characters that should not exist and inexplicable urban legends intertwine in this suspense-horror RPG, where unavoidable despair closes in.

The Galapagos RPG brand

Originally presented as the latest entry in Galapagos RPG, Compile Heart's brand of RPGs made for a specific audience in Japan, Death end re;Quest followed three released titles: Fairy Fencer F on PlayStation 3, Omega Quintet on PlayStation 4, and Fairy Fencer F: Advent Dark Force on PlayStation 4.

Log out of the bug-infested game

Survive 99% bad endings and log out of World's Odyssey, a game overrun by bugs.

Game programmer Arata Mizunashi receives an email. Its sender is Shina Ninomiya, the game director who disappeared a year earlier. Together with Arata, she had been developing World's Odyssey, a game that realised complete virtual reality. Her sudden disappearance caused the project to be frozen.

The inexplicable email indicates that the missing Shina is inside World's Odyssey, a game that should no longer exist. The program, which should have been deleted from the network, has been restored, and Arata tries to analyse it.

The program has been rewritten beyond recognition. In its bug-ridden world, Shina exists as the only player.

Arata makes contact with Shina and learns that she cannot log out. Together they search for clues, working from inside and outside the game with NPCs possessing hearts and colleagues in the real world.

But a terrifying situation awaits them, one that will also engulf reality.

A meticulously constructed world

The VRMMORPG World's Odyssey was a large-scale RPG into which the game development company Enigma poured all its resources. Development was halted when its director, Shina Ninomiya, disappeared.

One year later, World's Odyssey, supposedly deleted from the network, suddenly returns in a restored state, consumed by every kind of bug. These bugs produce numerous inexplicable phenomena, transforming it into a world filled with mysteries and madness.

Tricky battles built around bugs

Battle systems centred on bugs offer experiences impossible in an ordinary RPG. Change the program to alter the game's genre with the Install Genre System, and exploit corrupted fields while knocking enemies away with the Knock Bug System.

Turn-based command battles

Three party members can participate in battle. During combat, they can also switch places with characters waiting in reserve.

Move freely around the battlefield and overcome the enemy's tactical manoeuvres.

Triact System

Select three actions in a single turn. Choose any three from the basic Attack, Item and Guard commands and the many available skills.

Knock Bug System

Knock enemies away to deal additional damage. If a launched enemy strikes another monster, both take extra damage. If it strikes an ally, that ally performs a return hit called a Knock Blow.

Install Genre System

Modify the program during battle and change the game's genre itself. Enjoy combat in a variety of styles.
